Volatile organic compound (VOC)
Volatile Organic compounds (Volatile Organic come, VOCs) refers to the saturation vapor pressure is higher under standard state is greater than 13.33 Pa) (standard condition, low boiling point, molecular weight is small, the normal temperature condition of Volatile Organic compounds, according to the China emission standard atmospheric Volatile Organic compounds, including alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, aromatic hydrocarbons of C2 ~ C12 non methane hydrocarbon (Nonmethane hydrocarbons, NMHCs), C1-C10 Oxygenated OrganicCompounds (OVOCs) such as aldehydes, ketones, alcohols, ethers, esters and phenols. There are 152 types of compounds, including Halogenated hydrocarbons, Organic nitrates, and Organic sulfur.
The photochemical evaluation monitoring network (PAMS) is one of the monitoring networks related to volatile organic compounds. Since the 1980s, 17 standards (TO-1~TO-17) recommended by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for monitoring different types of toxic organic compounds in the ambient air have been gradually formed. The commonly used methods for analyzing low concentration volatile organic compounds mainly include TO-13, TO-14, TO-15 and TO-17. TO-14/15 The target compounds of C2-C12 were analyzed by tank sampling - low temperature concentration - GC/FID/MS, which could better meet the target components for PAMS monitoring and the recommended standard methods for PAMS monitoring.
